    Very nice tutorial... I have driven a 1914 Ford Runabout around 12k miles mostly on country roads... Perhaps you are aware.. but I want to mention a problem I see with your transmission pedals... First.. the clutch pedal is touching the floorboard and should fully engage above the floor without being able to ever touch it... The same with the reverse... The brake would also be the same to fully engage the drum surface by the band... Also.. the brake pedal should return without using your foot to pull it up... The pedal falling like that may cause the brake band to ride the drum which will tax the engine and wear the band lining... Hope this is helpful... This is the first of your videos I have seen... I will be looking at others...

    Very kind of you to show us how the Ford Model T drives. It's impressive that after such a well-selling car other manufacturers (thankfully) didn't follow these controls. I've read that these pedals (especially the middle one) helped the car get off the muddy roads by making it easy to shift back and forth. Second gear was then enough for those roads and so there were not many demands on the brakes. Now on modern roads this car is not suitable but it is still exciting to drive or just to look at. Congratulations on your patience and your love for the historic car.

    I think I watched all the videos, though not every word you said did I hear. When you were planning the build, were there any alternative engine locations that came close to being chosen? What were they? I assume the elevated location of the engine is because there was not enough space for you to move it forward and down. With the Quaife, could you have turned the engine 180 degrees and mounted it transversely where Fiat mounted the 850? Any idea how much more or less the current engine/transmission/differential is in weight compared to the Fiat engine/transaxle? I am impressed with your taking on this build and getting it done so quickly. Great work. Did the hard top not work with the intake or other concerns? Thoughts about a front air dam? My own fantasies about the 850 Spyder entail adding about 20 inches of wheelbase behind the drivers seat. Mostly to use the Fiat body, windshield, VIN, doors, hard top roof. Thank you for your video work and sharing your creation with us.I am always interested in why people are making the choices they are making.

    • @Jerod_Helt
      @Jerod_Helt 11 дней назад

      The Quaife diff has a different gear ratio in reverse so mounting the engine 180 degrees would not be ideal. Also I was concerned with how it looked more than how fast it goes around a track and I liked the way it looked with engine sticking out. But you’re right it would not go any lower and I barely have enough legroom as is so moving it forward was not an option. The car is much lighter now. It’s about 1,500lbs with a 54%/45% weight distribution with the rear being slightly heavier. It also makes close to 4x the HP so it’s a bit faster than it was with the stock drivetrain. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

    I noticed you didnt prelube or grease any of the bearings. Are they simply exposed to the internal trans fluid? Or should some of the new bearings be greased...? love this rebuild as a reference while I'm doing my Irish Green 64 C

    I own an i3 Rex 2014. I bought mine for $14k at 55k miles. I got lucky and mine was beautiful inside. I have had to replace the fuel relay, free airbag covered under warranty, spark plugs, air filter, new tires. The tires are the main drawback. They don't last long. I live near Chicago and it is ok down to 30 degrees. When it dips below that is doesn't go as far. In the summer mine still says 73 miles to use. What a lot of people don't understand is that it is the most effective ev next to the Chevy Bolt. I regularly get 5.5kw range per mile. Most EV s are lucky to get 3-4

Since it has been sitting and not running for several years I've been doing maintenance, cleanup, etc. I have never driven a Model T and this will be a new experience. Oh, what have I gotten myself into? I think the comment you made about not being like a modern car, more like a tractor, brought the hairs up on the back of my neck. But being adventurous I look forward to driving it very soon. Thanks again.

    I own a '28 Hudson Super Six and thanks to u i know now how to change tyres. I had a small hole in the tube and went to a tyre shop, which wells classic tyres, but they had no idea about this rim and used a plastic hammer to hit the rim and get it in position. At the next day the tyre was flat again and i went to an other tyre shop, cause i didn't want, that they hit my rim again at this way and the next shop did the same. Now i^m done with this shops and i decided to buy a tool like this. I live in Switzerland and i will buy one on ebay.
